Workshop: Level Up Your Home Lab Hacking Skills

There are many free ways to learn cybersecurity, and setting up your own lab at home on your laptop or desktop computer is one of the best. In this 2 hour workshop, you’ll dive deep into hacking concepts and learn how to set up a home lab for hands-on practice.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to perform reconnaissance against Windows assets.
  • Identify common vulnerabilities that can compromise an organization.
  • Real-world penetration testing techniques for Windows Active Directory using Kali Linux.
  • Hands-on demonstrations of the tools and techniques used by cybersecurity professionals.

Topics covered:   

  • Download VMware workstation and install.  
  • Download Kali Linux and install.  
  • Download windows server 2022 or 2019 and windows 10 evaluation and install.  
  • Download MS2 and install.  

Lab Requirements:  

With this lab, the sky’s the limit! You can customize and expand your setup however you like. This workshop is just step one. Let’s go and have fun learning!

By the end of this workshop, you will have the skills to set up your own hacking lab.


Preparation Instructions:

To make sure you’re fully prepared, please download the required files ahead of time using the link below. The download process can take about 1–2 hours, depending on your internet speed. Be sure to save the files to your laptop or an external hard drive, as you’ll need them during the workshop.
